Three names from three eras sharing one small number
A prophet hired to curse, who opened his mouth and said 'how goodly are your tents, Jacob' — words with which the morning still begins.
Menachem Mendel Schneerson, 1902–1994. He trained as an engineer in Berlin and Paris, led Chabad from New York after the war and sent emissaries across the world, from Kathmandu to Cape Town.
In two plague years of quarantine he set out the laws of motion and gravitation. He himself said he stood on the shoulders of giants.
What connects them
All three looked at what others did not see, and insisted on what they saw longer than was comfortable.
