What is free and what is paid?

Accepted Answer

Free — the whole calculation: your name in Hebrew letters, the addition letter by letter, the Torah word with the same number, the page of the Chumash and the verse, namesakes in the Tanakh, attestations from classical books. No sign-up, no card. Paid — only the document: the same reading laid out as a PDF, to keep, to print or to give. We do not put knowledge behind the payment.

Are you telling me what will happen to me?

Accepted Answer

No. We add up the letters of the name you already have and show the verse the sum lands on. The text knows nothing about tomorrow. If you saw something of your own in the verse, you saw it — we did not.

Question 3

Why is a non-Hebrew name shown in Hebrew?

Accepted Answer

Because gematria works with Hebrew letters. The name is written in Hebrew by its sound, and those letters are what gets added. The transliteration is our decision, and we say so plainly; and when the spelling matches an entry in the open name base, we note that on a separate line.

Question 4

Why do different spellings give different numbers?

Accepted Answer

The number depends on the letters. “Nathalie” and “Natalia”, “Alexander” and “Sasha” give different sums — that is normal: what is counted is the spelling you typed. If the name has a second accepted spelling, we show its number too.

Question 5

What does my number mean?

Accepted Answer

By itself — nothing beyond the sum of the letters. We checked: words with equal sums are, on average, no closer in meaning than a random pair; the measurement across the whole Tanakh and the code are published. The number is an address: a page of the Chumash and a verse. Read the verse. What in it is yours is for you to decide.

Question 6

Do you use the date of birth and the surname?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but not the way numerology does. The date is converted to the Hebrew date: what weekday it was, which portion was read that week, and which verse in it carries the number of your name. The surname is counted separately — it has its own number and its own word. We do not compute a “life path number” or a “personal year”: that is a different tradition, not ours.

Why is a similar name sometimes shown instead of the exact one?

If the exact spelling is not in the index, the engine takes the closest one and says so honestly. For rare names it counts straight from the letters — the calculation still holds. You can correct the spelling and everything is recomputed.

Question 8

How scientific is this?

Accepted Answer

Gematria is not a science but a tradition of interpretation, and we do not pass it off as physics. What is scientific here is something else: we measured how well its claims hold and published the data and the code under a permanent DOI. Two results came out against us: a random text covers more values than the Torah does, and an equal sum does not imply a close meaning. We print that on our own site.
