Three names from three eras sharing one small number
Jacob's second son. With Levi he answered his sister's disgrace with force — and heard his father's rebuke for it before he died.
1910–1995, Jerusalem. He worked out halakhah for a world of electricity, hospitals and transplants — calmly, and without fear of the new.
He published Leaves of Grass at his own expense and spent his life rewriting the same book, adding to it again and again.

All three looked at what others did not see, and insisted on what they saw longer than was comfortable.
