Three names from three eras sharing one small number
Elijah's disciple, who asked for a double portion of his spirit. He was ploughing with oxen when his master threw a cloak over him — and he left everything.
Shlomo Yitzchaki, 1040–1105, Troyes. A vintner and a commentator. His commentary on the Torah and the Talmud has been printed beside the text for nearly a thousand years: he explains more briefly than anyone, and explains exactly what is unclear.
He changed his manner again and again and left some twenty thousand works. He painted Guernica in five weeks.
