Judah's second son. His refusal of the duty owed to his brother's widow became the Torah's example of an obligation one does not evade.
Moses ben Maimon, 1138–1204. Physician to the sultan in Cairo and author of the Mishneh Torah — the first code of the whole of Jewish law in plain Hebrew, without citations or disputes, so that a person could read it and understand on his own.
