Three names from three eras sharing one small number
The first patriarch. He left his father's house at the word 'go forth', and argued over a city's fate for the sake of ten righteous men.
1895–1986. He came from Belarus to New York and became the man the world wrote to with questions that had no precedent: artificial respiration, a lift on the Sabbath, an inheritance.
He began composing at five and wrote more than six hundred works, not living to thirty-six.
What connects them
Each of the three moved at some point — changed country, side or occupation, and that is exactly what defined them.
