Three names from three eras sharing one small number
The second patriarch. The only one who never left the land of Canaan. The one bound on the mountain, who lived on.
Isaac Luria, 1534–1572, Safed. He lived thirty-eight years and left almost nothing written in his own hand, yet his teaching, recorded by his students, reshaped all later Kabbalah.
He painted the Sistine ceiling for four years standing with his head thrown back. He considered himself first of all a sculptor.
