Three names from three eras sharing one small number
One of the two scouts who stood against the ten. Of him it is said: 'a different spirit was in him, and he followed Me fully'.
1910–1995, Jerusalem. He worked out halakhah for a world of electricity, hospitals and transplants — calmly, and without fear of the new.
He began going deaf at thirty and wrote the Ninth Symphony without hearing it. At the premiere he had to be turned round to see the ovation.

All three looked at what others did not see, and insisted on what they saw longer than was comfortable.
