«And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.»
Vayikra (Leviticus) 26:6 · page 213 of 354
This is from the portion “Bechukotai” (Leviticus 26–27). What it is about: “If you walk in My statutes”: blessings for faithfulness and admonitions; vows and valuations; the tithe.
Nobody picked it: the letters of today's date add up to 921, and that is page 213 of the 354 pages of the Torah — the first five books of the Bible.
No word in the Torah carries today's number. Only a handful of such days a year.
Person of the day
Three names from three eras sharing one small number
Aaron's youngest son. He was put in charge of the count and the record of everything carried when the Tabernacle moved.
Rabbi of Krakow who added Ashkenazi custom to the Shulchan Aruch. Because of that one code became common to all communities.
He found the agents of tuberculosis and cholera and set out the rules still used to prove a microbe causes a disease.
What connects them
All three are remembered for words: spoken, written or performed — and the words outlived them.
Three points define a plane: a structure that no longer wobbles. A day to fix what has been reached rather than look for a fourth support.
What is the thing you have long thought but never once said out loud?
How the small number works: the digits are added until one remains. Non-Hebrew names are written in Hebrew letters by ordinary transliteration; variants exist, and the number depends on the spelling. We show the letters so it can be checked. This is a coincidence of counting, not a claim about fate. It is interesting exactly insofar as you can see how it was counted.

Reading of the reduced number
Three points define a plane: a structure that no longer wobbles. A day to fix what has been reached rather than look for a fourth support.
What follows is an interpretation, not a calculation. The reduced number comes from adding the digits; everything else on this page can be checked, and this cannot.
