The number of your name

The number of your name is 111. The Torah word אלף — “thousand” — has the same.

Your word in the Torah

The word אלף — “thousand” — has the same number as your name. Here is the verse where it first appears:

ולשרה אמר הנה נתתי אלף כסף לאחיך הנה הוא לך כסות עינים לכל אשר אתך ואת כל ונכחת
Genesis 20:16

The verse of your name

There is a sentence with which, by custom, a person answers when asked who they are.

Yours is this one.

ארח לצדיק מישרים ישר מעגל צדיק תפלס
Isaiah 26:7

The verse is chosen by the custom: it begins with the first letter of your name, א, and ends with the last, ס.

The Pentateuch has no verse that begins with א and ends with ס. The custom allows the whole Tanakh — and there it is: Isaiah 26:7.

The custom is written down in the Kitzur Shelah and in Sefer Ben Zion: “say it regularly and never forget it as long as you live.” The Rokeach gives the reason in Chochmat ha-Nefesh: a person is asked their name, and whoever does not remember cannot answer. The verse holds the name for them. Siddur ha-Rashban puts it more plainly: children were made to learn their verse by heart — so that if they were taken and forgot everything else, they would still know who they were.

How to read your number

Fact. The letters of the name אנס add up to 111. Plain addition — you can check it yourself.

Meaning. There is a Torah word with the same number — אלף (“thousand”). A matching sum does not mean the word is 'about you'; it is a reason to look at what in it matters to you.

A question for yourself. What in this do you recognise in yourself — and what would you like to strengthen?

Practice. This week: open the verse of your name, read it slowly three times and write down one thought that stays with you.

אנס
In short
Your name in Hebrew letters is אנס. Adding up the numbers of its letters gives 111 — the same as the Torah word אלף, “thousand”. That number points to Torah page 111 of 354 — in the portion Bo. What that portion is about: Locusts, darkness and the death of the firstborn; the Passover lamb; the exodus from Egypt; the commandment of tefillin. The verse that begins with the first letter of your name and ends with the last is Isaiah 26:7. Each of these steps is laid out below with its sources. Every figure can be checked by hand.
You wrote “Anas” — this exact spelling is what was calculated: אנס. Spelled by the Academy of the Hebrew Language rules for foreign names. If your name is spelled differently, correct the Hebrew spelling and the report is recomputed.
If you meant the name “Anat” (ענת), write it and I will calculate that one.
Adding up the letters of the name אנס gives 111.

This number is shared with 7 other name(s) out of the 2,980 in the index.

The number 111, as the remainder modulo 354, points to Torah page 111 in the book of Shmot (Exodus).
The verse this place falls on is Shmot (Exodus) 12:14:
וְהָיָה הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה לָכֶם לְזִכָּרוֹן וְחַגֹּתֶם אֹתוֹ חַג לַה׳ לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם חֻקַּת עוֹלָם תְּחָגֻּהוּ
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial, and ye shall keep it a feast to HaShem; throughout your generations ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
This is from the portion Bo. What it is about: Locusts, darkness and the death of the firstborn; the Passover lamb; the exodus from Egypt; the commandment of tefillin.
Other ways of counting
The tradition counts the same name in several ways. The main one is above: each letter is its number. The other eight are old and checkable too; each gives its own number, and many of them have a Torah word with the same number.
Final letters as 500–900 (mispar gadol) — 111. A Torah word with the same number is אלף — “thousand” (Genesis 20:16).
Reduced, each letter to one digit (mispar katan) — 12. A Torah word with the same number is הוא — “he, it” (Genesis 2:11).
Ordinal: alef 1, bet 2 … tav 22 (mispar siduri) — 30. A Torah word with the same number is כי — “for, because, that” (Genesis 1:4).
Cumulative: a letter plus all letters before it (mispar kidmi) — 451. A Torah word with the same number is ישמעאל — “Ishmael, son of Abraham” (Genesis 16:11).
Squares of the letter values (mispar perati) — 6101.
Building: the sum grows with each letter (mispar bone’eh) — 163. A Torah word with the same number is אצבע — “finger” (Exodus 8:15).
The letters that come out are תטח — not a word that stands in the Pentateuch. Atbash: letters mirrored, alef for tav, bet for shin, and the number of the resulting word — 417. A Torah word with the same number is זית — “olive” (Genesis 8:11).
Filling: the names of the letters are counted — alef, bet, gimel… (milui) — 337.
The number 111 appears in the classical books 39 times across 24 works. The earliest mention is ספר קרניים (~1400).
The name אנס does not stand as a word in the Pentateuch — as with most names, including many Tanakh names from the later books.
The verse of your name
The Pentateuch has no verse that begins with א and ends with ס. The custom allows the whole Tanakh — the Prophets and the Writings have 4 such verses. The first of them is Isaiah 26:7:
ארח לצדיק מישרים ישר מעגל צדיק תפלס
