Three names from three eras sharing one small number
Jacob's third son. His tribe received no portion of land — instead of land it received the service.
1920–2013. Born in Baghdad, chief Sephardi rabbi of Israel, and the man who set out to restore the authority of Sephardi ruling after centuries in which it had yielded.
He computed the orbit of Mars for eight years until he admitted it was not a circle but an ellipse. Giving up the beautiful shape gave the right law.
