Three names from three eras sharing one small number
A tribal prince whose open defiance before the whole assembly became the Torah's example of where licence ends.
Israel ben Eliezer, 1698–1760. Founder of Hasidism. He taught that a simple person praying from the heart stands no lower than a scholar, and that joy is not the reward for service but the manner of it.
A monk who counted peas in the monastery garden for eight years. His laws of heredity were noticed thirty-five years after publication.
